Ahead of the NATO Summit, Kaos GL Editor-in-Chief Yıldız Tar, who was detained during operations carried out in Ankara, was referred to court with a request for pre-trial detention following their questioning by the prosecutor. Among those referred to court with requests for pre-trial detention are more than 30 people.

Following operations carried out in Ankara on the morning of June 23 ahead of the NATO Summit, Kaos GL Editor-in-Chief Yıldız Tar, who was taken into custody, was referred to the Criminal Judgeship of Peace with a request for pre-trial detention after the completion of their police procedures.

According to a statement by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, detention warrants were issued for 241 people as part of the operation, and 209 people were taken into custody. Among those named in the detention warrants was Revolutionary Party Chairperson Elif Torun Öneren, who was not detained due to health reasons.

After completing their statements before the police and gendarmerie, those in custody were transferred to the Ankara Courthouse. Following prosecutorial questioning, more than 30 people were referred to the Criminal Judgeship of Peace with requests for pre-trial detention.

Those referred with requests for pre-trial detention included Kaos GL Editor-in-Chief Yıldız Tar, as well as Hediye Yıldırım, a member of the Central Executive Board of Halkevleri, and Assoc. Prof. Emel Memiş, a faculty member at the Faculty of Political Sciences of Ankara University.
