The Trans Pride Week Committee issued a statement on its social media accounts calling for action on November 20, the Trans Day of Remembrance.
In the statement, the Committee said:
“Dear comrades in struggle, as Trans Pride, this year on November 20, the Trans Day of Remembrance, we are coming together to draw attention to the root causes of transphobia and hate murders. This remembrance is not only an act of mourning; it is also a revolt against the cycle of violence targeting trans people and our lives under capitalism, patriarchy, and heteronormativity. The loss of trans people, whose labor is exploited and who struggle to survive amid poverty, exclusion, and hate crimes, reminds us once again that our struggle must be holistic. We organize this action to honor the memory of all trans people taken from us, to inscribe their names into our collective memory, and to build a common, organized front against transphobia and misogyny.”
