Remembering Murat Çekiç with love and deep longing... Kaos GL - News Portal for LGBTI+

Today marks the anniversary of Murat’s passing.

Although years have gone by, we continue to feel his absence, miss him, and mourn his loss. What we grieve is not only the friendship, companionship, and moments we shared with Murat; we also carry the sorrow of no longer being able to create together, dream together, and work side by side.

At the Murat Çekiç Association, which we founded after Murat’s passing, this is precisely what we strive to do: to continue creating together, to strengthen solidarity, and to expand the paths that Murat helped open. Sometimes through collective effort, sometimes by creating something out of nothing, we try to foster new encounters, friendships, and collaborations.

Today, we have a call to all those who knew Murat, worked with him, created alongside him, or simply shared a laugh with him.

We would like to further develop the library of the village library that Murat helped establish during the pandemic. To this end, we will soon be launching a book donation campaign. We would like to share in advance that we look forward to your support and solidarity.

But we know Murat would not have stopped there.

We asked ourselves, “If Murat were with us today, what would be on his agenda?” and came up with a few suggestions. Even so, we are certain that Murat would have had many more ideas in mind. So today, do not stop with these alone; do something in Murat’s memory as well.

At the very least, enjoy your coffee today in Murat’s honor.
