Labour Party (EMEP) has urged the inclusion of Kaos GL, HEVİ LGBTİ+ Association, and GALADER (Rainbow Families of Ankara) in Turkey’s Peace Process Commission.

The Labour Party (EMEP) has called for LGBTI+ and women’s organizations to be included in Turkey’s Peace Process Commission, officially named the Parliamentary Commission on Democracy, Fraternity, and National Unity.
Submitting a proposal to Parliament, EMEP MP İskender Bayhan urged the inclusion of Kaos GL, HEVİ LGBTİ+, and GALADER (Rainbow Families Association of Ankara), alongside women’s groups, unions, refugee associations, human rights defenders, academics, and artists.
“Peace processes must involve the working class, women, LGBTI+ people, oppressed peoples and faith communities. Only then can peace belong to the whole of society,” the party said.
The call follows a similar proposal by the pro-Kurdish, radical democrat DEM Party, which nominated Yıldız Tar, Editor-in-Chief of KaosGL.org, to share perspectives at the Commission.
Tar told KaosGL.org:
“Peace processes cannot move forward by ignoring the experiences and demands of LGBTI+ people. Peace is only possible on the basis of equal citizenship for all. I hope this process advances on a foundation where no identity is excluded.”
