President and AKP Chair Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke at the Family and Population 10-Year Vision Launch Event held at the Haliç Congress Center. In his speech, Erdoğan noted that the years 2026-2035 have been designated as the “Family and Population Decade,” and targeted LGBTI+ people.

Using the term “degendering,” Erdoğan targeted LGBTI+ people, saying:

“They are unable to prevent the family institution from declining in status in the face of global degendering trends. In some countries, the problem has reached such a level that if it were not for migrants, the economy would collapse, life would stop, and the most basic services would not be provided.”

Erdoğan added:

“Those who accuse us of weakening the individual and the woman because we attach importance and priority to the family will see how absurd their claims are. The correctness of our efforts to protect and strengthen the family will be understood much better in the future.”

Listing the strategic priorities of the Family and Population Decade, Erdoğan said:

“Our first strategic priority is the protection of the family institution and generations. Our second priority is encouraging marriage. Our third priority is increasing the fertility rate, while the fourth is raising youth with quality education and ensuring the welfare of the elderly. Our fifth and final strategic priority is rural development in place and the balanced distribution of the population.”
